Glencoe Youth Baseball

The JBO program is for youth in grades 3rd through 8th. 
 

JBO baseball is not recreational, but competitive. That said, there are three different levels within each age grouping, with the lowest (National) being much less of a commitment for players and families. Federal (and sometimes American) level teams typically have a much higher commitment level: 4-5 practices a week from March to end of July, early August. American and Federal teams will also likely play in 2-3 tournaments which will require weekend availability. Depending on their age/level of play, players are only required to play a certain quantity of defensive outs per game. At all ages and levels, the entire roster bats.

2024 Junior Baseball Evaluations!

Evaluations will be on FEBRUARY 24th and 25th at Glencoe High School on the Turf Field. This is the 2nd year for this format at Glencoe Youth Baseball, when traditionally we have held a one-day tryout only. All players are expected to be at tryouts Saturday, February 24th. Only select players will be invited to return for Sunday's tryout.

After Day 1 evaluations, the Glencoe Youth Baseball board will identify the top 18-24 players in each age group (Minor, Junior, Senior). Families of those players will be notified Saturday evening to return Sunday February 25th for the final day of tryouts. After the final day of tryouts, all players will be divided into the 3 different levels of teams. Federal teams are the highest-level players followed by American and National teams.

Saturday February 24th Schedule:

Minors 3rd/4th Grade: 9:00am-10:30am: Please arrive 30 minutes early for check in

Juniors 5th/6th Grade: 11:00am-12:30pm: Please arrive 30 minutes early for check in

Seniors 7th/8th: 1:30pm-3:00pm: Please arrive 30 minutes early for check in

Sunday February 25th Schedule: BY INVITE ONLY

Minors 3rd/4th Grade: 9:00am -12:00pm- Please arrive 30 minutes early for check in

Juniors 5th/6th Grade: 9:00am - 12:00pm- Please arrive 30 minutes early for check in

Seniors 7th/ 8th Grade: 12:00pm -3:00pm - Please arrive 30 minutes early for check in

Equipment needed for evaluations:
-Glove 
-Bat
-Batting Helmet
-Baseball Hat
-Cleats & Regular Athletic Shoes
-Water/Hydrating Beverage 
-Baseball pants/sweatpants (NO SHORTS)
-Long sleeves, this can be a long sleeve shirt, sweatshirt, or athletic jacket
